OFFICE TIMING: 10.00 AM TO 5.00 PM (MON TO SAT)
Basic Function:
Supervises and participates in all metallurgical testing covering the Mill process in order to control the quality of processed and finished products. Prepares daily and monthly production and test statistics for the Mill.
Work Performed:
-Supervises the activities of assigned personnel in the Metallurgical Laboratory. Performs supervisory duties at the section head level established by Management for the position.
-Supervises and participates in carrying out metallurgical feasibility tests. Includes receiving samples from Exploration, preparing samples e.g. drying, crusting and screening, carrying out tests such as grinding, copper flotation, cyanidization, zinc flotation etc., sizing equipment e.g. ball mill, filters, tanks filtration test work, settling tests etc., consolidating data, and preparing final test reports for Management.
-Supervises the carrying out of various metallurgical tests as an aid to process control. Includes determining the types of tests to be carried out by the laboratory technician. Examples: cyanide in leaching tanks, zinc flotation tests and carbon absorption test, Reviews results, consolidates and summarizes into a report for Management.
-Prepares daily and monthly production statistics. Includes obtaining samples for metal production accounting, ensuring that required tests are carried out on samples, sending samples to assay laboratory, consolidating data on weights and assays, and entering data in computer to generate production figures.
-Carries out other similar or related duties such as assisting in the preparation of the department's budget, and providing grade control data to Mine Engineering.
Minimum Requirements:
-Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy.
-8 years' metallurgical laboratory experience in the mining or related industry.
-Good knowledge of English.
