Job Purpose
The role operates as a Global Engineering expert as part of the Control System and Instrumentation team within the Electrical and Automation department of Asset Technology Centre, with the purpose to drive Manufacturing vision for fostering continuous improvement in reducing operational risks, increasing revenue and optimizing cost across all SABIC sites worldwide, through:
-Expertise deployment for Control Systems solutions & improvements
-Development and deployment of world class practices and functional expertise
-Identifying and implementing improvement opportunities through internal and external networks, systems, benchmarks and assessments
-Networking & knowledge management and providing training
Key Accountabilities
Technical Leadership
-Identify, evaluate and recommend improvement needs for Control Systems safety aspects.
-Identify, evaluate and develop Sabic Manufacturing Standards (SMS) related to Control Systems assets.
-Identify, evaluate and develop engineering Best Practices (BP) related to Control Systems.
-Ensure timely review for SABIC Engineering Standards (SES) related to Control Systems.
-Monitor the market for new ideas, innovations and identify novel solutions for life cycle management of Control Systems within SABIC.
-Engage with key OEMs to address design issues affecting asset reliability and to maintain knowledge of upcoming technological improvements.
-Lead/participate in Control Systems Expert Group.
-Lead technical global initiatives/project in his area of expertise.
Strategy and Planning
-Support Control Systems and Instrumentation lead to develop and manage the Control Systems annual and five-year work plans with specific deliverables for this area of expertise.
-Conduct regular Performance Killer analysis based on actual production loss data and RCA's to generate Resolution Plans (PKRP) that recommend specific actions to mitigate common failure modes.
Technical Support and Engagement
-Provides technical support to the Control Systems Expert group.
-Evaluates Control Systems technologies and applications anaysis.
-Evaluate outputs of study, compare with observed behavior and offer resolution to Control Systems issues.
-Work with Regional Asset Support (RAS) team by providing technical support & consultation to resolve chronic failures/issues at sites globally.
-Support SABIC Manufacturing in technical audits/assessments/cold eye reviews and remaining life assessment initiatives.
-Participate in failure analysis and support RCA of actual/potential incidents with C1/C2 classifications.
-Provide expert knowledge on safety and reliability related programs applicable to SABIC OMS.
Knowledge and Network Management
-Communicate critical business cases in the form of Technical Alerts (TA) and High Value Learning from Incidents (HVLI) to Global Manufacturing.
-Lead internal and participate in and/or lead external technical networks, forums, conferences and committees that have considerable Control Systems content.
-Manage the Control Systems Expert Group ensuring adherence to Operating Rhythm Charter for Networking and Knowledge sharing.
-Assure the change management of developed SMS's, solutions and recommendations20%
Competency Development, Mentoring and Coaching
-Develop and delivery of specialized, quality training to SABIC manufacturing engineers globally.
-Develop, maintain and retain top-quality Control Systems expertise by effective training, mentoring and coaching.
General
Comprehend and apply legal guidelines in the Control Systems and Instrumentation section.
Minimum Qualifications: (Degree, training, or certification required)
-Master’s Degree in Engineering preferred, with extended education and experience in the expertise area.
-Manufacturing Experience (Technical engineering, Maintenance Management, Reliability and Project Management).
Minimum Experience: (Technical, functional, and/or leadership experience required)
-At least 15 years of experience with at least 7 years in Petrochemical and Oil and Gas industry.
-Global expert on Control System applications and projects as demonstrated by significant accomplishments and contributions acquired over a period of minimum 15 years (BS/MS).
-Experience areas shall include, cost/benefit analysis, technical design, implementation, commissioning, start-up, maintenance, sustainability, trouble shooting, failure analysing and overhaul dedicated to the Control System area of expertise, with proven experience on project execution and maintenance of:
-Continues, batch and discrete process control systems,
-Advanced Regulatory control,
-Supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems,
-Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC),
-System interfaces and communication protocols,
-Life cycle management. New generation of systems.
-Experience of people management and ability to use influence to achieve results.
-Flexible and able to re-prioritize tasks based on changing business need.
-Desire and ability to self-teach new software programs or system.
