Qualifications:
-B.Sc Degree, Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering.
-Certified Welding Engineer (Holder of International/European Welding Engineer (IWE/EWE) Certificate or equivalent)
-A post graduate degree in welding engineering or Metallurgy is desirable.
Professional Profile:
-At least 10 years relevant experience in the construction of onshore Oil & Gas or Petrochemical industries facilities.
-At least 3 years relevant experience in Middle East.
-Experience of working to and fully conversant with international codes and standards (ANSI/ASME, ASTM, AWS, NACE etc.) used in oil and gas industry.
-Demonstrated sound technical knowledge and extensive experience in welding processes (SMAW, SAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW etc.).
-The right candidate must have extensive working experience with piping materials including LTCS, CrMo, SS, Duplex & Super Duplex SS, alloys 825/625, CuNi, clad pipes, etc. and with most common piping welding processes (manual, semi-/automatic, mechanized).
-In addition, the candidate must possess good planning and presentation skills.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
The job holder will be involved in the below listed activities:
-Managing welding activities and coordination of welding teams (Fabshops and Site erection)
-Organizes the WPQT/WQT on site in accordance with the project requirements.
-Responsible for overall guidance on all welding engineering deliverables in terms of coverage, quality, and schedule as per Projects requirements
-Planning, preparation, and qualification of the WPS’s (proposals and final) for all fabrication and erection piping scope, selection of welding consumables. Monitoring and coordinating the project activities (site based as well as offsite) for the preparation testing and approvals of the PQR’s. Updating registers of approved and qualified WPs/PQR’s.
-Ability to undertake failure analysis, welding related problems diagnostic and solutions.
-Preparation and implementation of quality control procedures as well as inspection and testing plans.
-Co-ordinating the welders’ qualification activities in welding school (training facility). Maintaining the lists of qualified welders.
-Periodic checking and validation of the computerized welding database.
-Liaise with QC department in their day-to-day activities. Decide on difficult technical issues and resolve conflicts if situation arises.
-Responsible for welding performance, analyze trends and propose corrective and preventive actions, where applicable.
-Training of welding personnel (Supervisors, F/M, C/H).
-Liaising with the Client’s Welding Engineer on all matters in his domain.
-Assist in fulfilling the operational requirements for welding activities for project execution in a cost-efficient, effective, and safe manner.
-Review technical specifications, determining cost, quality, and time impact.
-Provide specialist welding support when required.
